8 Apr 2025Nice hotel to stay in if you need to do anything in Gatesville or North Fort Cavazos, or even Killeen! I would prefer staying in Gatesville over Killeen as it’s nice and quiet. The staff at the Comfort Inn and Suites were always very kind and helpful. Room service was amazing. I have never stayed anywhere with a more thorough room service. They don’t just take out your trash and make your bed, but vacuum and wipe everything down entirely. Would definitely stay here again!

7 Apr 2025My team and I stayed here for about 6 months working NFH and main post. Because we were there so long, the staff was great to work with and when we needed space to all work together it was available to us. The rooms are basic, just like most hotels and they should always be cleaner upon arrival. When I requested, the cleaning staff always returned to vacuum or clean areas that were missed. We utilized the pool and BBQ areas weekly. We would have preferred to stay on post, but this worked out.

We had a room on the second floor and since my husband has bad knees he was nice enough to change our room to one closer to the elevator. Breakfast was real good. The lady monitoring the breakfast was doing a great job. Planning to make it our place to stay every time we go to gatesville.

24 Jun 2024We have been using this hotel off and on for a good many years. We have our annual family reunion down the road. This time it felt like the upkeep was falling behind a little. Maybe it was just our room. The facility is nice and we would stay in it again but they need to work on the small things and make sure everything stays fixed.

23 Jun 2024It's a rural hotel. The beds had no give, the bed linens were scratchier than I've ever encountered. The curtains are on a track so there's an unavoidable gap of about two inches that means you have the outside light glaring in all night. I used a hair tie to help things a bit. Other things to mention were that the pull out sofa seemed not to have a mattress and sagged badly when sat on and we saw a young roach in the bathroom. In Texas, roaches will get in from time to time, but that's mature roaches. A young roach with the sense to hide was born on the property. The elevator also struggles pretty badly to move, even when it's empty. We also found grunge on the toilet paper dispenser and on the top of the elevator buttons. This place was far too expensive to not care about these things.

A few minor repairs would be nice, like replacing the bedside lamp that doesn't work. My only true complaint was that was not one single thing on the breakfast menu that i could eat. A banana or any other fruit would have allowed me to have breakfast.

2 May 2024+ The Free breakfast was Great. The room was Very Comfortable, except do not like feather pillows. Great bathroom and shower with plenty of counter space. The restaurant 'Junction on Hwy 36' was FANTASTIC and not far away. They served breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and they have a Full Bar all day long ! (Rare for that county)
- The hotel location is almost in the middle of nowhere, but that was OK, because we were there for the solar eclipse. No bar. Did not like the Price Gouge for the Solar Eclipse, (10X normal rate for the one night !)

It was a little noisy for us, our room on the second flood was by the door to the stairs. The AC didn't get cool enough for us, and our room had a little bit of a smell. We sprayed some Febreze and that seemed to take care of it, but after we were out of the room for a bit and came back it was still there, we had just gotten used to it. All that being said we will likely stay again.

13 Feb 2024If you are staying in Gatesville, I'd recommend staying at Ramada than the Holiday Inn across Walmart. I've been to both and Ramada is more quiet. I think it's because of the location. It's a little secluded compared to Holiday Inn which is just right there off the highway. The front desk lady was really nice too and greeted me with a warm welcome when I checkedin January 15, 2019. I think her name is Shannon or Sharon who offered me fresh cookies. Also when I checked out in January 17, 2019 at 1100, the guy at the front desk was really busy but he didn't hesitate to acknowledge me and my presence. I will definitely book a room again next time. This hotel feels more like a home to me.

If your lucky, they will have breakfast taquitos (so delicious with a nice kick). They are amazing. The breakfast is good and the lady who runs it is awesome.

3 Sep 2023This is the best hotel with great staff and clean rooms with positive staff that likes to accommodate their guest . That being said the I do not agree with the previous guest comment regarding this hotel . Yes they are renovating this hotel between March 2024 to April 15th 2024. The dates are for almost month so it's not that they are shutting it for 2024 eclipse only they chose to renovate at that time frame so that's their decision. The hotel is give the previous guest 11 to 10 month ahead courtesy notice so I think that's fair and you as a guest could find other accommodation for 11 months ahead notice it's not like they charged you !! I do find issues with government raising interest rates but no one will complain there but will still pay for higher utilities, water etc etc .

- The only negative was the scrambled eggs weren't that good. I prepaid for the hotel though booking.com and the girl at the front desk said it didn't look like it had been paid. I showed her my receipt from booking.com and where it was pulled out off our checking account. She was new and had to get with someone and they figured it out.

The rooms are new and clean, hot breakfast was awesome, and top of everything the staff and their hospitality was best. I recommend anyone traveling to Gatesville to stay at Comfort Inn & Suites. Did I mention their front desk staff was knowledgeable about the town offerings? We will be back at Gatesville and stay here again.

21 Jan 2023Stayed here last week for work. My only complaint I had was the doors slamming closed, even if the door just needs to be pulled fully shut. There was one guest that kept going in and out of their room across from the stairs, so for up to 30 minutes straight all I heard was the door slamming. The door to the stairwell on the 2nd floor on the east end also has the same issue. Worse is that I've had to shove the door open rather hard multiple times to get it to open. Talk about possible safety issue.

- I usually DO NOT stay at Comfort Inn or any of the similar brands. I was once lied to by mgmt at one and I remember that very clearly. Had the Holiday Inn been available, I would have stayed there.

1 Apr 2021+ I go to Gatesville once a month and stay one night. I'm a vendor at the local Trade Days. The place I have been staying is closed for remodeling. Last month I stayed at the other cheaper place, not good, the bed was hard and I felt like I was sleeping on to of a table. This time I decided to splurge and stay here. It is a great place. The bed is so very comfortable and not soft but at least you kind of sink in a little. My hip bone didn't hurt. They have a good heavy comforter so I turned the A C down cold and slept very well.
- The price, it is over priced in my opinion. I know all the reasons they have to justify the higher rate but still in my opinion it is priced too high. It's a solid $100. A night place but not a 151.00 (that was with tax). I had to sell a lot of stuff just to pay for the room.

Not only was my room clean the lobby and breakfast area was clean as well. There was a decent variety of items available for breakfast. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Parking was easily accessible. Although we did not swim, the pool looked very inviting.

25 Oct 2020We really enjoyed our stay here. Everything was spotlessly clean; our room, the lobby, the breakfast area, even outside. The bed was comfortable with lots of pillows to choose from. The air worked well and the room was quiet. The shower had great water pressure and was very clean. The staff was friendly. Breakfast was served by the attendant (due to covid precautions) who was super nice and helpful. Biscuits and gravy, premade omelets, bacon, yogurt, cereal, pastries, coffee and juice provided plenty of choices. This is a great hotel that we will definitely return to if we are in the area again.

All the people are incredibly helpful and generous with their time and advice. We have travelled with a nine year old and a lot of luggage and the elevator was in a great location. The Comfort Inn and Suites is one of the nicest places we have stayed at In Texas.

We visited during the Corona pandemic, so the breakfast was different. The "hot breakfast to go" was just ok with a very mild burrito. So mild that I'm not sure what was in it. They also had muffins and yogurt. The price was right, and it was not far off I-20. I would stay there again.

Need to update gps directions as sent us to a neighborhood with NO access to hotel parking lot, but could see it, so was easy enough recovery but needs correcting to help travelers.

Arrived a bit after 11am to check in change cloth,eat and meet with friends before 1 oclock When I made res. he told me check in was 3pm. Ok but I have to change clothes etc. He said OK NEVER mentioned the 50 dollar early check in fee.I could have and would have stayed somewhere else.This location has changed names many times over the past ten years or more. This is the first time I have stayed any place less than tweenty four hours for $158.00 as check out is 12pm. Other than that nice clean new remodel

It was very clean and professionally staffed. I don't like having to watch Fox News at breakfast, but I realize many people like that station.

21 Oct 2019This hotel is either recently renovated or in the final stages of renovation, as the room numbers were printed on paper and taped to the walls. Room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast needs some work, but was passable (eggs need some help, as do the pastry selection). I have had worse, but nothing more than ordinary for the price range. Staff was friendly and helpful. Would probably stay here again.

21 Sep 2019If you are staying in Gatesville, I'd recommend staying at Ramada than the Holiday Inn across Wamart. I've been to both and Ramada is more quiet. I think it's because of the location. It's a little secluded compared to Holiday Inn which is just right there off the highway. The front desk lady was really nice too and greeted me with a warm welcome when I checkedin January 15, 2019. I think her name is Shannon or Sharon who offered me fresh cookies. Also when I checked out in January 17, 2019 at 1100, the guy at the front desk was really busy but he didn't hesitate to acknowledge me and my presence. I will definitely book a room again next time. This hotel feels more like a home to me.

The very long lasting hot water and shower pressure was a plus! This hotel has just as much or more to offer as any other hotel in the area. I would highly recommend staying at the Ramada Hotel if you're passing through Gatesville and need a place to stay during your visit.

There was a $150.00 "incidentals fee" hold placed on my credit card that was not mentioned anywhere before hand on the booking site or I would have booked elsewhere. I guess they think because they are in "oil country" everyone coming through is either rich or a thief. Anyway, the room was beautiful. The TV was way too small for the size of the room, though. And why put a full-size refrigerator in an efficiency apartment? I don't know. There's a price list of what they'll charge your card if you decide to walk off with any of their stuff in the bathroom, and don't expect the good shampoo and conditioner from these folks either. All-in-all I'd give it 3 stars, basically because it was way over priced, the unexpected fee hold, and the oh-so-small television.

I booked a suite and got a regular tint room, so that was disappointing. At 6:30 am breakfast was not ready...there was cold stuff, but no batter for waffles or any entree food

5 Nov 2018We were very pleased with our choice for our quick overnight stay. Our room was exceptionally big with a lounge chair and ottoman on one side and a nice desk on the other. The bed was very comfortable and most important... the room was clean! The lady who checked us in was extremely friendly and was full of information on some local restaurants. Next time we're in Gatesville, we will definitely be staying here. We got up late and missed the breakfast so we'll try that the next time!

23 Sep 2018After driving 5 1/2 miles from San Antonio we walked in to the lobby and waited at the reception desk for several minutes .. patiently. 95% sure the young gal was on a personal call. When she hung up there was no greeting and no “sorry for delay” .. she looked at her keyboard and just said “NAME?” I was a tad surprised. My card was charged before arriving after a confirmation call was made halfway to Midland. She said she needed my credit card and I just said oh it's already been charged ... I received notification. She rudely said “it doesn't matter .. still need card. Then she said I need it to charge the $150 deposit!! Now that got my attention!!!! She kept cutting me off when I was trying to understand what the deposit was for since it had not been previously mentioned or explained. This gal did not have customer service skills and it was a lil disappointing since we were staying several days. Several other receptionists were at the counter during the stay. Half of them were nice enough to say “Hi”. We did look around at several other hotels while we were there. This hotel was still under construction in areas. We liked the rooms ... nice and clean. We just missed having pleasant people upfront. BUT the cleaning people and other workmen in the hotel were all very pleasant when we tried to start a conversation.

27 Jun 2018I was checked in at the Ramada INN off of business 20 E, it was the worst. I could barely breath in there, vomiting from harsh smells, and the rooms were dirty. The Hawthorne Suites, were heaven and a peace of mind. The rooms are very nice, very clean, they look like studio apartments.

We had a bit of a hiccup checking in but the staff person, Kristin, was awesome! She understood our situation and went above and beyond in accommodating us. Thank you Kristin! Jay is the owner and if you have a problem you can contact him directly. have never had a bad experience overall rating at this place.

I spent 3 months there do to work it's a nice place with hard working personnel. They knew where to send you to get good food and were to stay away from. You could only go in one direction unless you drove thru a couple other businesses parking lots but not terrible I guess. The only thing that I really thought that could have been better was the continental breakfast.

5 Feb 2018I did not have a room as a guest, but was visiting a hotel guest for the super bowl. Next time I am here, I will book this hotel. The staff is hands down the best I’ve seen in my two years of a traveling job. The woman at the front desk even offered to let us use her home kitchen to make our super bowl feast. The rooms are very nice and everyone is so polite. The breakfast room and front entrance have comfortable seating along with televisions for entertainment. Just an amazing environment!

The town that it is in does not have much to offer but you can get to a better area within an hour of driving. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Service was friendly and helpful. When you wake up to that, it is bothersome. Just ask for some consideration and not be that noisy. Our housekeeper removed towels that were hanging up and did not replace them. Not sure why. Otherwise stay was great.

22 Sep 2017Nice hotel there working on it remodeling it new carpet. rooms need repainting.. Breakfast was good but ran out of biscuits for the gravy forgot to order it. Bed was comfortable but people upstairs from us was very inconsiderate, let there kids run back and forth for two days. The pool is outside on the shady side of the building so it was two cold to swim in, the pool needs a heater. coffee was not good. Staff was outstanding and very informative and help full . Computers were so slow in the business office could not use them. all in all nice place, would stay again. Good places to eat close by.
Pros: close to shopping and good food.

Gym is very, very small but there is a local gym a quick walk away that has cheap weekly rates. There is a small pool and a stainless steel covered barbeque grill. A nice restaurant is across the front parking lot along with a gas station. The hotel is just a place to spend the night and then go about your business.

15 Aug 2017Front desk staff is very friendly and personable. Had an issue with my TV, went above and beyond to get it fixed. Comfy bed, lots of pillows, very clean. Stayed here for 4 consecutive nights, by night 2, afterwards staff knew me and my team by first name. Breakfast is about par for regular hotel...eggs, biscuits, meat, cereal, pancakes, juice, coffee, breads, yogurt, etc... Highly recommend!!

28 Jul 2017New, clean property. Had a late check-in (2AM) and that was accommodated. The rooms are very humid so the sheets and towels were damp- I don't know what can be done about that, but it was uncomfortable. We asked for a little later check-out since we got in at 2AM and were told no (they ended up giving us 30 min extra). Overall it was fine.

2 Jul 2017Front desk attendant was very friendly and informative. I had a problem with the TV not coming on so she switched me to another room which was more comfortable than what I originally had. The room was spacious, bed extra configurable, curtains were stained and looked of mildew. Spots were on the sofa and chair but still smelled fresh. Overall it was a good stay. TV was a bit small for a king suite.

Best part was the greeting from the young lady at the front desk. I apologize I cannot remember her name. She even called our room after we checked in to make sure everything was fine.

23 Jun 2017The hotel itself was good. It was clean and quiet. However, there was a storm that came through while we were in town that knocked out power to the hotel. The one staff member did little to nothing to make the guests at the hotel comfortable. When asked questions as to what the plan would be for power once lights came back on he shrugged his shoulders and did nothing to get information from someone who might know. It was frustrating to say the least. Other than the lack of service to guests during this situation, the hotel was a good hotel.

17 Jun 2017Very comfy hotel. Quiet, and big suite with kitchenette and full-size fridge. Very large, clean bathroom for a hotel. I had a little issue with coffee maker, because I am not good with machinery. Nice breakfast with omelettes, sausage, waffle-maker, coffee and 3 types of juice.

I booked 2 rooms with king beds by accident, the staff was able to find me 2 rooms to 2 queen beds the day of. This helped out my team so we didn't have to find another hotel 45mins away! Definitely would stay here again!

25 May 2017The hotel itself was nice, the staff was courteous - but had a LOT of rules. I stay at hotels on average 10 days a month & have never been told so many "don't do's" upon checking in...I felt like I was a child entering pre-school on day 1. They also need to work on finding some bleach somewhere...all towels (that they are crazy over - see "rules"), sheets, blankets, etc were a dark tan...but newer ones were white. It didn't feel very nice to get out of the shower with a "tan" towel & then climb into a "tan" bed...knowing everything should be white.

However, being that we are handicapped I found it disturbing that the employees were parked in the handicap parking spaces in front of the entrance without a handicap placard or license forcing the patrons to have to park further away making it more difficult to carry suitcases etc. I would think the administration would give preference to their patrons rather than employees.

The overnight desk clerk was kind enough to come to my room and tried to fix it, but it didn't continue working.
